Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report initial examinations show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.

A senior political figure said the attack made him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
