Tehran is willing to resume atomic negotiations with Washington provided that it is handled with "dignity" and "honor", Iran's foreign minister has announced.

Abbas Araghchi declared exclusively dialogue was effective, and revealed recent overtures had been made by mediators to resume talks with the US government. He claimed Iran did not have unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran could not yet allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit bombed nuclear sites for security reasons.

Walking a Difficult Route

The foreign minister is navigating a challenging course since Iran wishes not to appear to be proceeding from a stance of disadvantage, and he emphatically stated that Iran had emerged more powerful militarily and mentally from the joint assault on its nuclear sites in June.

He was talking at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he restated that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to enrich uranium domestically that it will never give up" – the key factor of the stalemate in the previous talks.

Earlier Talks Suddenly Concluded

The earlier sessions of discussions between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and hostile termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, attacked Iran's enrichment centers in a two-week conflict that concluded with Donald Trump declaring the locations had been obliterated. Subsequently, European countries used their authority to reimpose international penalties, but Iran maintains they have not had a significant effect.
