Correspondence Highlight the late financier and Steve Bannon Relationship
In November 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly a top aide to Donald Trump, visited the UK to deliver a speech at the Oxford Union.
The speech was interrupted by numerous demonstrators, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Activists delayed my talk I doubt I can catch the flight we r enroute to the airport".
Epstein responded: "That. Is a Gulf Air that leaves at 9:50 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "U r an amazing helper".
These messages were published on this week alongside over 20,000 documents from the estate of Epstein, the deceased convicted sex offender.
The release by the House oversight committee includes an iMessage chat where Bannon's name is withheld. Media outlets has been able to establish his involvement by cross-referencing the timeline, occurrences, and locations referenced.
For instance, Epstein discusses chartering a jet from Scotland for the redacted user in the chat, and offers praise their "Oxford speech". Bannon took part in the News Xchange conference on November 14, and delivered the talk at the Oxford two days later.
Bannon, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, declined to comment on the request for comment.
Epstein's Assurance to Bannon
Bannon served as the president's closest aides in the run up to the 2016 election and in the early days of his presidency, but resigned from the White House in August 2017.
He has acknowledged he was producing a documentary about Epstein prior to his death and reportedly has approximately 15 hours of footage. In a recording of his show earlier this year, he stated: "We plan to publish the series, the multi-part documentary, in the coming year - early next year."
But the newly released materials suggest Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than being his biographer, with the disgraced financier occasionally appearing to serve like a personal assistant.
A short time before the exchange in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "what's it like to have the most highly paid travel agent in the world ".
Bannon thanked him: "U r pretty good assistant", to which Epstein responded "Massages. Not Included".
Discussing a visit to "Abu Dhabi" in a separate text, Epstein assured Bannon: "I'll make sure you are taken care of."
British Affairs Discussed in Exchanges
The published communications also show Bannon and Epstein discussing British political matters in that year.
On the same day his address at the Oxford, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit issue this day with Farage, Boris and Mogg."
Then, in what seems like a reference to the UK prime minister, the struggling UK prime minister at the time, he added: "They are attempting to proceed. may soon…"
Epstein advised Bannon: "I think remaining as much as you can in the UK. Ideal- so people get the commitment of your follow-up."
Shortly after, Epstein asked: "Will Theresa may remain in power". Bannon answered: "I don't see how BUT the people here have no balls" and noted "Boris ; Gove; Rees Mogg; David Davis - somebody has to take charge".
Theresa May was eventually toppled in May 2019 after surviving two votes of lack of support in December 2018.
A representative for the political party informed media: "Nigel Farage has not been in a meeting with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is no evidence such a meeting occurred.
The US House of Representatives will vote next week on whether the Department of Justice should make public all its files related to its probe into Epstein, who passed away in prison in that year.
Attention in Epstein's associations with influential individuals was reignited recently after the publication of over 20,000 pages from his estate.
A portion of those mentioned the former president, who has consistently rejected any impropriety. The leader was a acquaintance of Epstein's for years, but says they fell out in the early 2000s, two years before Epstein was initially charged.
